Structural engineering service according to HOAI Part 4, Section 1.
Structural design for the renovation of the listed building for anatomy, built in 1897, with a lecture hall extension from 1977 and planned new underground technical centres on a property of the Friedrich-Alexander-Universität (FAU) in the city centre of Erlangen.
The building is used for research and teaching for the Institutes of Anatomy of the Faculty of Medicine. In addition to office, seminar and technical rooms, the space requirements also include highly installed areas for laboratory use, animal husbandry and anatomical preparation or prosecturation. The building is connected to the neighbouring building via the lecture hall area with 300 seats. An interim building is planned to accommodate certain uses during the construction period.
The NRF (R) of the space requirement is approximately 5,510 m2.
The Free State of Bavaria, represented by the State Building Authority Erlangen-Nuremberg, intends to renovate the building for Anatomy I in the city center of Erlangen.
Built in 1897, the building is a listed building and has been rebuilt several times in the last century. The last complete renovation, including the construction of a new lecture hall extension, took place in 1977. In 2018, due to increased formaldehyde levels in the dissection room and in the prosecture, a ventilation system was installed in front of the building to supply these areas.
The building no longer meets the functional, technical and hygienic requirements of an institute building with teaching facilities. The building fabric needs a complete renovation - this applies in the same way to the associated technical equipment.
The space program specified by the users must be accommodated in the existing building. In order to bring the technical supply of the building up to the current state of the art, additional underground technical areas must be created.
In addition to the renovation of the building and the construction of the underground technical centres, a former underground steam transfer station (located in the castle garden, distance approx. 10m) will be converted into a medium-voltage centre in the course of the measure.
Footprint:
NUF 1-6: 2603 m2
NUF 7: 351 m2
TF: 976 m2
VF: 1580 m2
The construction phases include the renovation of the lecture hall, the construction of the underground technical centers and the installation of the medium-voltage center. In addition, an interim building (e.g. as a modular building) will be erected for certain uses of the main building - approx. 5,200m3 BRI. After the main building has been cleared, it will be renovated. After completion, the interim building will be dismantled.
When implementing the measure, monument preservation concerns must be taken into account and conversions, routes, etc. must be coordinated accordingly.
The construction project places high demands on the planners involved. Not only because of the construction process described above, but also on the design of a well-functioning, but economical construction.
