The aim of the procedure is to connect a new 5-storey research building with laboratory space to the existing building for the Leibnitz Institute for Natural Product Research and Infection Biology, the Hans Knöll Institute (HKI) on the Beutenberg Campus in Jena.
Founded in 1991, HKI is now a state-of-the-art research institute with 420 employees. These focus on the research topics of infection biology and new natural substances from microorganisms that can be used to fight infections. As a result of the further scientific profiling and the associated personnel development of the HKI, the existing building capacities are no longer sufficient. The former laboratory houses 1 and 2 were therefore demolished and the new HKI building was built on the resulting free area with a gross floor area of 5 761 m
