The University of Surrey (‘the University’) is 1 of the UK's leading Professional, Scientific and Technology Universities with a world class research profile and a reputation for excellence in teaching and learning. The University currently has approximately 14 000 registered students and 3 000 staff and operates from a single main campus split between 2 locations in Guildford, Surrey, 1 (the main campus at Stag Hill) just south of the A3 and the 2nd (Manor Park) just north of the A3. The main campus has around 30 Academic and Service supporting buildings. The 2nd site is predominantly halls of residence but also houses 2 research buildings, the Vet School and the Surrey Sports Park. In close proximity to the Surrey Sports Park are the Surrey Research Park and the Surrey Technology Centre which is also operated by the University of Surrey.
The University has 2 on premise Data Centres, however during the lifetime of the contract the University intends to relocate Data Centres to an off-site hosted facility.
The University wishes to enter a comprehensive managed service agreement with a supplier to administer and monitor our environment, managing existing support contracts on behalf of the university, provide technical expertise and comprehensive performance reporting to support our entire storage and back up service. The University requires a high level of proactive managed service support. The overall objective of this agreement will be to deliver the highest overall level of support by utilising both University and Supplier skills and resources in the most appropriate and cost effective manner. The specific responsibilities for each element of the infrastructure will be agreed during contract set up with the preferred supplier.
