The Free and Hanseatic City of Hamburg plans to adapt the shipping channel of the Elbe to the requirements of container shipping. In the course of the project "fairway adaptation of lower and outer Elbe" the Elbe is not only deepened, but it is built between the Mühlenberger hole and the Lühekurve a meeting route for the large-scale shipping. For this reason, the directional blaze line Blankenese - consisting of upper fire and lower fire - moves for incoming ships by 125 m to the south. All associated nautical facilities must be adapted and rebuilt.
The planned new construction of the Blankenese directional fire line is part of the application documents for the fairway adaptation. Implementation is based on the corresponding planning approval decision.
