The Hannover Medical School currently has a highly standardized structure for patient monitoring, including consumables, from the blood pressure / spot check monitor of the normal care ward to the highly upgraded intensive care bed. Through a one-manufacturer strategy (3 device lines) and considerable overlaps in the operating philosophy, a standard could be generated across the clinic, guaranteeing a high level of patient and user safety with little training. In the context of initial planning for a new building of the Central Hospital on or near the existing campus, infrastructural switches are being set, which are also of importance for patient monitoring. The tendering process will be used to incorporate future developments and technologies into the planning based on current patient monitoring options. The demographic change, with corresponding consequences for the health service, will also be reflected in the area of patient monitoring. For example, the need for patient monitoring is increasing, not only because of the expansion of benefits in the field of intensive care, but also in the normal care sector in particular. Even today, a one-to-one relationship between the patient and the monitoring system is a standard in the Children's Hospital of the MHH. For the (extended) campus, a new interdisciplinary emergency department with a reception center is being planned, which further increases the need for patient monitoring. The same applies to functional areas such as endoscopy, radiology and cardiac catheterization, although they are centralized in the context of new construction planning.
