The Norwegian Public Roads Administration is carrying out preparatory surveys for the construction of bridges over Sulafjorden, Halsafjorden and Vartdalsfjorden (ferry free E39). The natural climate shall be described for this.

Measurements shall be made in order to decide, amongst other things, the relevant climate for wind, waves on the surface, inner waves, current, salt content in the water, air humidity, precipitation and air temperature. There is a separate measurement programme for the fjords.

The measurements shall be processed and long term statistics shall be established with relevant return periods so that the natural climate can be a part of the prerequisites for the engineering design services for the constructions in the area. Wind ranges, coherence in the wind and wave ranges shall also be established.
