For the implementation of the systematic hourly service on the Bernina line, a new crossing station is to be built in the Cadera area. In the chosen variant, the line from the level crossing at km 36.6 to the Cadera stop will be upgraded as a double track. This results in an effective usable length of around 1,500 metres.
The project is located in a steep, mostly forested area. Extensive earthworks such as slope cuts and fills on the valley side are required. In addition, a retaining wall about 176 meters long and up to 6 meters high must be built. Since there is no direct road access to the project perimeter, deliveries to the construction site are rail-bound during night train breaks.
The tendered contract includes the engineering services as general manager and specialist planner civil engineering / supporting structures for SIA phases 32 - 53.
