The city of Cologne had to give notice to the previous steel construction company at the end of 2021. The previously missing services must be re-tendered: factory and assembly planning, steel construction production, corrosion and fire protection coating, delivery and assembly, concrete ceilings, sandwich panels. In addition, the rectification of defects in the already assembled components is also advertised.

The steel construction to be planned and manufactured completes a steel structure that was started 3 years ago and was not completed. The steel construction of the entire structure consists of four construction phases, whereby construction phase 4 is again divided into construction phases 4.1 and 4.2. The existing steel structure already built comprises the load-bearing steel structure, including the concrete slabs over E01 (ground floor) and E02 (first floor), construction phases 1 and 2. At the same time, the load-bearing diamond walls on the ground floor of building sections 3 and 4.2 and steel beams of construction section 3 are partially erected.

In construction sections 4.1 and 4.2, the diamond walls and the steel structure, some of which are complementary, are to be manufactured, delivered and assembled in E01, E02 and E02. These measures must also be implemented in construction phase 3 from E02 onwards.

The connection to the existing steel structure must be created and taken into account in the calculation.

Missing components such as roof edge plates, the sandwich panel facade and the steel construction for the natural stone facade to be built on site must also be added to the existing construction. The additions include the manufacture, supply and assembly of the missing components.

For the existing construction and the steel structure to be newly built, there are sometimes workshops and component plans that are part of the systems and can be used by the contractor. A large part of the present workshop planning has been checked and approved by the test statics and the architect.”
