Expansion of the existing Erfurt-Ost combined heat and power plant with a new power-to-heat plant, Lot 2 General contractor for buildings, outdoor facilities, plant and electrical engineering
SWE Energie GmbH is a company of the Stadtwerke Erfurt Group and, as an energy service provider, secures the electricity, gas and heat requirements for Erfurt and the region.
At the HKW Erfurt Ost site, SWE Energie GmbH operates a CHP plant, which essentially consists of the following plant components:
- Combined cycle plant with two waste heat lines (lines 1 and 2)
- Gas turbine waste heat plant (line 3)
- Heißwassererzeuger
-Heat accumulator
Due to changing political and market conditions (decarbonization), SWE Energie GmbH intends to focus more on renewable energies in the future and plans to expand the existing combined heat and power plant with a new power-to-heat plant. The client intends to use the plant commercially in the second quarter of 2025. The plant will initially comprise a 20 MWth electrode boiler plant with an indirect coupling to the district heating network. The main scope of the enlargement measures is as follows:
- The planning, procurement and construction of a new building for the new power-to-heat plant including a space reserve for an additional 40 MWth power-to-heat plant.
- In addition to the area for the power-to-heat plant, this building will also contain premises for a new transformer and the necessary switchgear.
- The planning, procurement and construction of a power-to-heat plant with indirect connection to the Erfurt district heating network.
- The planning, procurement and integration of the new power-to-heat plant into the existing combined heat and power plant.
- The planning, procurement and construction of a transformer to supply the new power-to-heat plant.
- The planning, procurement and construction of new MV and LV switchgear for the power-to-heat plant.
- The planning, procurement and construction of the control cabinets required for operation as well as the creation of a control system for integration into the existing Siemens T3000 control system at the site.
- The planning, procurement and construction of all heating, air conditioning and ventilation systems required for the operation of the plant.
- The planning, procurement and construction of all outdoor facilities (e.g. access roads, access roads) of the new power-to-heat plant.
The contractor must plan, manufacture, deliver, assemble and commission a complete power-to-heat plant including the associated building. The plant and the building are planned in such a way that another power-to-heat plant with a capacity of 40 MWth can be integrated. The plant is to be connected to the existing combined heat and power plant.
The scope of delivery and services essentially includes the following services and components:
- Engineering/planning, project management, procurement, assembly and commissioning as well as documentation,
- Documents for permits (e.g. building application),
- Buildings and foundations for the new power-to-heat plant,
- electrode boiler system with indirect connection to the district heating system,
- steel construction, piping and insulation,
- alignment,
- fittings and instrumentation,
- Fernwärmeumwälzpumpen,
-Transformer
-Switchgear
- plant control technology, control, regulation and protection system as well as adaptation of the high-voltage protection system,
- HVAC (heating, air conditioning, ventilation),
- Feuerlöschsystem,
- Electronic systems (e.g. auxiliary and ancillary systems/technical building equipment),
- Outdoor facilities and infrastructure.
