The trams of the Combino type (13/14G) were delivered by Siemens to GVB in 2003 and 2004 with outside visible line- and destination displays. Line- and destination displays refer to the displays that are visible from the outside of the tram. The functions of the displays are to indicate the line number and the final destination. These must function properly at all times.
The LCDs are now starting to shine through and fade, printed circuit boards have been damaged by UV and the insulation of cabling has deteriorated. Replacement is necessary to keep the Combino trams operational in the second part of their life, i.e. until at least 2030, with an extension until 2035
The scope of this tender is the delivery of new displays (inclusive cabling and adjustment pieces to make them fit) of the trams relates to four types of displays that are in use with the type 13G / 14G tram “Combino”. It concerns 155 trams in total. The requested displays apply to:
• The GVB tram series referred to as ‘13G’ (one-way tram) consisting of 151 trams;
• The GVB tram series referred to as ‘14G’ (two-way tram) consisting of 4 trams.
The displays show, from the different positions, information for the travellers about the tram, such as the line (route) number and the destination. The displays are installed in four different places in the tram. In total GVB needs:
• 164 Front display
• 156 Rear display
• 156 Line number side display (road side)
• 164 Line- and destination display (stop side)
