The Lørenbanen project comprises a 1.6 km long double track underground tunnel between Sinsen at Centrumsbanen (underground railway) and Økern on the Grorudbanen, with an underground station at Løren, of which approx. 1100 meters is in mountain tunnel, and approx. 500 metres in day area (includes concrete tunnel). In addition to establishing a new substructure and superstructure of approx. 500 m stretch of Grorudbanen between Hasle stasjon and culvert at Økern. Planned completion of the project is during 2016.
Implementation of the project will provide a basis for utilizing the subway system's total capacity better than today, within three main areas:
1. Relieve the joint stretch (Tøyen - Majorstuen) through the city centreby using one train from Grorudbanen, so that the frequency of Østensjøbanen can be increased from one to two trains per quarter.
2. Establish new track connection for a direct line between Grorudbanen and the underground railway to the North.
3. Establish Løren stasjon in the urban area of ¿¿Løren, and link the new residential areas to the subway.
The project is carried out in several lots.
This lot comprises the enterprise "Lørenbanen - O1 – Superstructure Grorudbanen" that (O1) comprises:
Superstructure for 2 track Grorudbane in the day. The distance is about 500 m where drive current and superstructure (including the creation of track changes and overrun track) is included.
Grorudbanen shall be relaid several times during the construction period which means that the work must be done in several phases during the period from the Summer of 2013 to the beginning of 2015.
