Repair and maintenance services. The Ministry of Defence has a requirement for the provision of spares and repairs for the following equipment:
— IPLEX IV7435A (of which Olympus Keymed is the original manufacturer);
— Debris Tester Mk3 K 100 12459;
— Ultrasonic Equipment and Probes.
RVA's (Remote Visual Aid), DTU's (Debris Testing Units) and Ultrasonic Equipment are used tri-service across various locations throughout UK and overseas. The RVA's are used for the inspection of aircraft structures and engines. The DTU's are used for the measurement of material contamination in engine systems in support of the Wear Debris Monitoring System and Ultrasonic equipment includes probes and bondmaster used for aircraft inspections.
This contract requires renewal to ensure a range of RVA (DMC 4XA), Debris Test Units (DMC 4XP) and Ultrasonic Equipment (DMC 4XS) can be repaired when required. For this reason, bidders will be asked to prove that they can safely repair the above items.
The Contract is covering legacy equipment until a replacement Contract to phase in new equipment is competed: the RVA competition was advertised on 16.8.2013 under reference 268237-2013 and appeared in the DCB on 21.8.2013, Volume 11, number 16, page 34.
The spares are required to be of a commercially proven design and have a verified history of operation. They are to meet all current and known future mandatory legislation, including Defence Standards, Environmental and Health & Safety requirements. They are to operate within the fit, form and function of the equipment listed above.
Due to the scope of the contract and the requirement to operate alongside the existing Olympus Keymed equipment, the Authority will assess proposals against fleet wide value for money, also ensuring they are viable, sustainable and efficient.
