A managed operational service to deliver the Council's recycling, refuse, street cleansing and public convenience cleansing services.

The contract is for the supply of a 2 year domestic waste collection, street cleansing and public convenience cleaning and maintenance service within West Devon.

The waste service includes an alternating weekly collection of residual and garden waste and a weekly collection of recyclables from all 25 328 households within the Borough. Food, glass, metals, paper, card, textiles, plastic bottles and batteries will be collected by kerbside sort method. The cleansing services include sweeping of all adopted highways and cleaning and maintenance of 12 public conveniences.

The council will supply all fleet and infrastructure required and the contractor will provide the technical knowledge of the current service, round structure and local area topography and demographics to assist the council in procuring this fleet. The net income from sales of collected recyclable will pass to the council and the contractor will assist in maximising income by assisting in a brokering capacity.
