Contract award for the provision of medical and health and safety training primarily for the maritime industries to meet the growing international demand for crew, officers and captains who are trained to the highest professional standards, but the tender also includes elements of sport and general first aid for the wider University community.
The supplier will be required to provide highly qualified and experienced medical personnel to help support with training and teaching from Warsash Maritime Academy’s medical and first aid portfolio. The portfolio of courses vary in their length and content (please see website for further details). We are currently teaching and would require support with the following (please note this portfolio is subject to change and expansion):
1) proficiency in elementary first aid;
2) proficiency in medical first aid;
3) automated external defibrillation;
4) oxygen administration Health and Safety Executive (HSE):
(a) first aid at work;
(b) emergency first aid at work;
(c) annual first aid refresher.

Solent staff require both Health and Safety Executive (HSE) FAW and OPITO (MER Training):
1) first aid at work;
2) emergency first aid at work;
3) annual first aid refresher;
4) first aid at work – requalification;
5) OPITO medical emergency response training Tier 0 – Tier 3 6) Onsite monthly First Aid At Work Refresher – 2 hours per month (sport related environment).
On-board Training This entails the instructor conducting training on-board a variety of vessels rather than being land based and will require the flexibility for worldwide travel at short notice. Locations: Worldwide – merchant ships, superyachts and other maritime vessels around the globe either at sea or in port.
