Vlietland College is an independent interconfessional school community with a wide range of education of mavo, havo and vwo (atheneum) with approximately 1,000 students.
The starting point for Vlietland College is that the new building will be realized on the basis of a student number of 1,000 and with three gymnasiums, resulting in a space requirement of 8,388 m² gross floor area (GFA). This is made up of 7,024 m² gfa school and 1,364 m² gfa sport. The new building must be an Almost Energy Neutral Building (NZEB) and gas-free. Vlietland College is itself the client of the new building.
On 16 November 2021, the city council adopted an investment budget of more than 24 million euros for the new building for 960 students including two gymnasiums. The preferred location is the Vijf Meilaan in Leiden. The municipality of Leiden is currently conducting a feasibility study for this location.
