The Norwegian Environment Agencies shall built a fish barrier at Snøvassmælan in the Driva River, approx. 25 km east of Sunndalsøra in Sunndal municipality. The objective of the barrier is to confine the river section that shall be treated with chemicals in order to exterminate the salmon parasite Gyrodactylus salaris.
The fish barrier shall be constructed as a slab concrete dam founded on a massive concrete slab t=500 mm which shall be casted on uncompact materials. On the upstream side steel sheet piles shall be used as sealing. The dam slab shall be established in 3 metres sections with concrete elements as sealing. For the concrete works over a massive bottom slab, approx. 40 prefabricated columns shall be assembled. Moreover, energy dissipaters shall be cast in situ on the massive slab. On the columns for the downstream dam slab, approx. 640 m
The spillway section will be approx. 80 m long and 23 m wide, with a height of 5 metres. The abutments will have a total length of 45 metres with different width on the foundation. The height will be approx. 10 metres.
On the opposite side of the access road, i.e. the National road No 70, a catch house with an area of approx. 140 m
The project is scheduled to be completed in July 2017.
