The contracting authority (AG) is Stadtwerke Augsburg Energie GmbH (swa), which aims to implement specific measures to reduce CO₂ emissions and to cross-sectoral energy utilization as part of its climate strategy and the resulting transformation goals. Increasing demand for district heating due to the development of new urban areas and densification of existing areas, combined with the decarbonization of the generation portfolio by 2040, requires new investments in renewable heating technologies. For this purpose, deep geothermal energy will also be investigated.
