The Environmental Protection Agency is obligated under environmental legislation to specify the measurement methods that air and odor emissions laboratories, environmental authorities, companies, etc. must use to investigate different types of air and odor pollution from companies, etc. Part of this effort involves staying updated on new knowledge regarding air pollution and measuring air emissions, including odor. The task includes the following sub-tasks: • Project management • List of methods and method sheets • Proficiency testing • Workshop for air and odor emissions laboratories • International standardization work • Newsletter • Ad-hoc advice to the Environmental Protection Agency • Consulting and assistance to the Environmental Protection Agency • Website There is a gross list of the sub-tasks included in the reference laboratory's task portfolio. There may be years when a sub-task does not need to be addressed, or is only partially addressed. The Environmental Protection Agency will prioritize annually which tasks on the gross list should be carried out in each calendar year.
