The DVG intends, by the end of 2030, to convert the entire diesel bus fleet to buses powered by fuel cells. The current schedule includes a mandatory delivery of 11 solo low-floor city buses in July 2024 and a delivery of 14 articulated low-floor city buses by July 2025. For the refueling of at least 120 city buses powered by fuel cells, a stationary hydrogen refueling station, which is the subject of the tender, is to be constructed at the Am Unkelstein depot in Duisburg. The client has received a financial commitment for the procurement of the fuel cell buses. The project must be completed and settled in 2025. For this reason, it is essential that the refueling infrastructure is put into operation by the end of 2025 at the latest, and all costs are settled.
The DVG also intends to conclude a maintenance contract for an anticipated duration of 5 years plus extension options.
