The subject of the contract is the production of a fully functional and operational atmospheric single-zone heat storage facility with the further agreed specifications as Lot 5 (WS) of the overall project "CALOR"
LOT-0001
Construction of a heat storage facility as part of the overall project Calor.
The contracting authority operates as a regional energy supplier, among other things, a district heating network with currently about 350 km of pipeline length and approximately 7,000 customer connections for about 70,000 housing units. It intends to expand its district heating production as part of the overall project "CALOR" by utilizing environmental heat from the Kiel Fjord with a large heat pump system with a total capacity of about 100 MWth and an additional heat storage facility, which should also be able to absorb heat from the already existing facilities of the contracting authority.
The overall project "CALOR" is to be implemented on the northern part of the former operating site of the now decommissioned joint power plant Kiel (hereinafter also referred to as "GKK") in close proximity to the gas engine heating power plant operated by the contracting authority (also referred to as "Küstenkraftwerk" or "GHKW") and to the heating plant Ost of the contracting authority; it consists of various individual lots, of which the subject lot 5 includes the planning, construction, and commissioning of the additional heat storage facility, for which the contractor is also obligated to conduct the required trial operation.
The other lots for the structural renovation of the existing inlet and outlet structures of the former GKK (Lot 1) as well as the delivery and installation of the 110 kV transformers (Lot 2) and the 110 kV switchgear (Lot 3) for the large heat pump system to be constructed (Lot 4) will be separately commissioned by the contracting authority and are not the subject of this contract; however, within the scope of its responsibility for the functional success of the work, the contractor must also prepare the interfaces, among other things, to the other lots and make them connection-ready, as well as consider their processes due to the confined space conditions on site in the execution of its work.
