Description:
The project involves constructing and operating a 70 MW grid-connected battery storage system designed for energy trading and providing secondary control reserves, located on STADTWERKE FLENSBURG GMBH's premises.

The subject of this project is the construction and operation of a grid-connected stand-alone battery storage system (BESS) with an electrical connection capacity of 70 MW and a usable storage capacity of 140 MWh on the customer's premises. The storage system is to be connected to the customer's own 60 kV medium-voltage network via a medium-voltage transformer and is intended for participation in arbitrage trading.
The installation location of the battery storage is on a green meadow owned by STADTWERKE FLENSBURG GMBH (SWFL). The system design is planned as a containerized or modular storage solution, consisting of battery systems, inverter units, transformer technology, protection and control technology, as well as the necessary ancillary equipment.
The storage capacity is intended to be used for participation in energy trading. In particular, the marketing of flexibilities via short-term electricity markets is planned in order to generate revenues from price spreads and market-related arbitrage potentials. In addition, the battery storage system is to be used to provide secondary control reserve (aFRR) and thus generate additional revenues from participation in the balancing energy market. A market-oriented multiple use aims at an economically optimized mode of operation of the storage system.
