At the site of the former glue factory in Tangermünde, there is a halogenated organic compounds groundwater contamination. The contaminated area is located in the catchment area of the Tangermünde waterworks. To prevent hazards, the groundwater flow in the direction of the catchment area of the waterworks has been controlled since 1992 using hydraulic barriers through three monitoring wells. For continued operation, the existing flow barrier will be replaced by a new facility featuring downstream groundwater treatment. The newly constructed groundwater treatment facility, including connections to the monitoring wells, must be operational (regular operation) by the 19th calendar week of 2026 at the latest. The duration of the main contract period is 48 months with the option for two extensions of 2 years each (2 x 24 months) until the year 2034. Specific requirements for the new groundwater treatment facility are outlined in Chapter 5 of this announcement.

Construction and operation of a groundwater treatment facility (GWRA) involving extensive work to establish the location for the new GWRA, excavation and earthworks for the pipeline installation from the three extraction wells to the GWRA, establishing the discharge line to the property transfer shaft, dismantling of old pipes from the previous operation of the flow barrier with subsequent groundwater treatment, operation of the GWRA for the treatment of chlorinated solvent contaminated groundwater in a multi-stage treatment plant, average extraction rate: 6.5 m³/h, average LHKW concentration: 6,500 micrograms/l (myg/l), compliance monitoring and limit values: discharge of treated groundwater with monitoring value: 100 myg/l total LHKW, limit value: 150 myg/l total LHKW. Discharge of treated exhaust air with monitoring value: 1 mg/m³ for total vinyl chloride and trichloroethylene, 100 mg/m³ for cis-1,2-dichloroethylene, limit value: 5 mg/m³ for total vinyl chloride and trichloroethylene, 150 mg/m³ for cis-1,2-dichloroethylene.
