The AG is planning the construction of four medium-voltage shore power systems for seagoing vessels in accordance with the IEC/IEEE 80005-1 standard in the Bremen overseas port area of the city of Bremerhaven for the Free Hanseatic City of Bremen in the Port Special Fund. On the basis of the functional service description, the CONTRACTOR plans, builds, delivers and erects four converter lines at its own locations and puts them into operation. In addition, the cables from the converter systems to the quay must be designed, procured and delivered.

On the basis of the functional service description, the CONTRACTOR plans, builds, supplies and constructs four converter systems (UA) in accordance with the IEC/IEEE 80005-1 standard for medium-voltage shore power for seagoing vessels. In addition, the CONTRACTOR lays out the cables from the UA to the quay (interface terminal box), procures and supplies the cables and the terminal boxes. The cables are laid/retracted by the company that wins the contract to create the cable trays. The electrical feed of the UA with 20kV, 50Hz is carried out by the AG.

1. The UA MSC will be built at the Bremerhaven container terminal. Foundation Flat foundation / reinforced floor slab. The UA is to be constructed from modules installed in sea containers in a 2-storey design. Output power of the system 7.5MVA at 6.6kV, 60Hz. The cable length from the UA to the terminal box is about 350m.

2. The UA NTB will be built at the Bremerhaven container terminal. Foundation Flat foundation / reinforced floor slab. The UA is to be constructed from modules installed in sea containers in a 2-storey design. Output power of the system 7.5MVA at 6.6kV, 60Hz. The cable length from the UA to the terminal box is approx. 450m.

3. The UA for the cruise terminal will be built in the parking lot next to Geo Plate Str. Foundation Deep foundation. The UA is to be constructed from modules installed in sea containers in a 2-storey design. Output power of the system 16MVA at 6.6kV/11kV, 50 Hz/60Hz. The cable length from the UA to the switching station next to the cruise terminal and from there to the terminal box at the quay is about 800m. The complete completion of this shore power system will not be possible until spring 2025, as the cable duct for the shore power vehicle cannot be built until the end of 2024 at the earliest. The scopes, which do not depend on the missing cable duct, should nevertheless be erected as quickly as possible and, as far as possible, put into operation.

4. The UA for the car terminal will be built about 60m next to the east side of the north port. Foundation Flat foundation / reinforced floor slab. The UA is to be constructed from modules installed in sea containers in a 1-storey design. Output power of the system 4MVA at 6.6kV/11kV, 60Hz. The cable length from the UA to the terminal box on the quay is about 150m.

In the case of the UA, the possible structural expansion in the future must be taken into account.

The two converter buildings for the container terminal can be expanded to a total of (6) UA (construction height then 3-storey on a larger footprint), the converter construction for the cruise terminal to a total of (3) UA (construction height remains 2-storey on a larger footprint), the converter construction on the car terminal to a total of (5) UA (height 4-storey with unchanged floor area).

The Senatorial Building Authority Bremen is responsible for the UA to 1st, 3rd and 4th, for the UA to 2nd (NTB) the Building Regulations Office Bremerhaven is responsible.

As a particular complication during the construction and commissioning of the facilities on the port operating grounds, it should be noted that terminal operations, i.e. port handling operations in 24/7 mode, take place 365 days a year and disruptions caused by conversion measures must be avoided or at least minimized. You are only allowed on the terminal premises after special training and approval by the terminal operators and you may only move around the container terminal with vehicles. Long distances and waiting times are to be expected and planned. Higher expenses than usual are to be expected when securing the construction sites. This also applies to construction site operations, storage areas for building materials will probably not be available close to the construction site. During commissioning, work must be carried out in close coordination with other project participants, such as the suppliers of the ship connection systems. The responsibility for coordination lies with the AN of the UA.
