The Fraunhofer IIS is currently the most successful institute of the Fraunhofer Society. It encompasses seven specialist areas in the fields of audio and multimedia technologies, adaptive systems, X-ray technology, communication systems, localization and networking, smart sensing, and supply chain services.

As part of the FireAI project, a next-generation GPU computing cluster with over 300 GPUs is being procured, primarily for training generative AI (GenAI). A cluster of this type is necessary to efficiently enable distributed training (data, model, and pipeline parallelization), shorten training times, and securely handle parallel experiments from multiple teams.

The present tender serves the procurement of a directly water-cooled system complex comprising the necessary racks, management servers, network components, and infrastructure to facilitate operation (hot water cooling infrastructure, power distribution, etc.), as well as AI computing nodes with at least 4 high-end GPUs per node. The computing nodes are to be interconnected via InfiniBand. The subject of this framework agreement is the procurement of directly water-cooled HPC cluster components as well as their maintenance and servicing.
