Düsseldorf Airport GmbH intends to replace its existing video management system with a new video management system (VMS). The VMS is a central part of the security-critical infrastructure of the airport. A highly available, scalable solution is expected, which can be seamlessly integrated into existing IT and security architectures and meet future requirements.
LOT-0001
Renewal of Video Management System at Düsseldorf Airport.
The VMS takes over the central control and monitoring of all security-relevant areas of Düsseldorf Airport - including terminal buildings, apron, baggage logistics, and perimeter security. The existing camera infrastructure (currently more than 1,000 IP cameras from various manufacturers and age groups) must be fully integrated into the new system. About 80 video workstations and 5 fully integrated video walls are part of the system. Special solutions for connecting to subsystems such as the Airport Map, SCADA, VuWall, Transliner, Schneider Intercom, Nextcloud should be taken into account. Special solutions for image display in official situations are expected, with contemporary latency times in image processing, current analytical functions, freely scalable recordings, exportable data, and protocols are also requirements of the demand profile. High flexibility of scalability of the overall system, camera and user management, and alarm management is required. The VMS must meet the high security requirements of airport operations, comply with the requirements of critical infrastructures, and adhere to all relevant IT security and data protection regulations. The new VMS should be built on the existing network infrastructure; agreements regarding bandwidth, storage, locations, and required server capacities must be coordinated with the client. The tender for the VMS includes the provision of VMS software, interfaces to subsystems, video workstations, system setup, decommissioning of the old system, support, and training. Networking components (switches, core switches), SAN storage, cabling infrastructure, and cameras are not part of the project tender. The VMS must be modularly expandable and allow the integration of new security modules (e.g., drone detection, AI optimizations).
