Description:
Warendorfer Energieversorgung GmbH plans to construct a heat storage facility at the new Ems heating plant in Warendorf, designed to operate autonomously and integrate with the district heating network while managing thermal energy from large heat pumps and gas boilers.

The Warendorfer Energieversorgung GmbH intends to build a heat storage facility at the new heating plant Ems in Warendorf. The CHP must be operational by the heating season 2027/2028. The location is at the edge of the new heating plant in Warendorf, in close proximity to the B 64. The installation height is approximately 57m. A corresponding site plan is attached to the request (see annex). In the further annex, floor plans and sections of the new building with storage are depicted. The heat storage is to be used as a swing storage system. The heat will be fed into the existing district heating network. The system temperatures are specified at maximum 95 °C for the supply side and between a minimum of 55 °C and a maximum of 70 °C for the return side in the design state. The storage is to be designed for discharge and charge volume flows between 30 and 300 m³/h at the specified operating temperatures. It should operate as autonomously as possible with its control, regulation, and monitoring facilities and will be integrated into the overarching control technology of the combined heat and power plant. Communication with the control technology will take place via hardware contacts and Profibus/Profinet.

LOT-0001
Construction of Heat Generation Plant EmsWerk - Heat Storage.
The heat storage should independently absorb the system-relevant generation of thermal energy from the large heat pumps and gas boiler systems of the new combined heat and power plant, regardless of the heat load of the connected district heating network. The storage will be built in close proximity to the new heating plant and connected as a pressure-free swing storage on the producer's side. The pressure-free integration along with vent and pump-controlled discharge and charge system is not part of the request and will be integrated by system construction and the overarching control technology. The design must take into account the required expansion volume of the network (network and other facilities of the district heating network approximately 600 m³ water content) as well as the storage itself. Including water provision for district heating, an expansion volume of at least 8% of the nominal storage volume must be provided in the design. Technical data: Nominal volume heat storage: 2,000 m³ maximum allowable supply temperature: 95 °C operating temperature supply at nominal load: 90 °C operating temperature return at nominal load: 60 °C minimum operating temperature: 5 °C consideration of expansion volume: 150 m³ charge and discharge volume flow from 30 m³/h to 300 m³/h maximum container height: 18 m maximum storage diameter (including insulation): 13 m. The bidder is to plan and execute the design, delivery, installation, and commissioning of a heat storage system, including the necessary connections, observation openings, installations, and technical equipment up to the interfaces as described below, after the contract has been awarded.
