Description:
The project involves the design and execution of modernization and construction works for the mechanical-biological section of the wastewater treatment plant in Nowy Targ, focusing on enhancing capacity, efficiency, and infrastructure without disrupting current operations.

The subject of the contract is the design and execution of the modernization and construction of the mechanical-biological part of the wastewater treatment plant in Nowy Targ. The planned investment aims to ensure the average daily flow of the wastewater treatment plant at the level of 21,000 m3/d and PE (Population Equivalent) at the level of 110,264.
The scope of the contract includes design, construction works, commissioning, training, testing, and handover for operation, as well as the preparation of all necessary documentation and obtaining all administrative decisions required to complete the contract in accordance with applicable regulations.
The attached Functional and Utility Program (Annex No. 1) defines requirements regarding both design and execution in the scope of expansion and modernization of the existing mechanical, biological, and sludge parts within the wastewater treatment plant in Nowy Targ. The data and minimum requirements described therein shall form the basis for the investment implementation. Execution of the work related to the contract must not cause disruptions to the operation of the wastewater treatment plant.
The investment area is located within the wastewater treatment plant in Nowy Targ, owned by the Municipal Waterworks and Sewerage Company in Nowy Targ Ltd. The investment area mainly occupies the central and eastern part of the treatment plant site. This area includes facilities belonging to the mechanical and biological wastewater treatment lines. The modernization also concerns the sludge section facilities and associated infrastructure.
The scope of the investment, i.e., design and execution, includes, in particular:
• Modernization of the inlet channel including the construction of a bypass
• Modernization of the main pumping station
• Modernization and expansion of the coarse screen building - Replacement of existing screens with panel-hook screens perforated with holes of 6-8 mm. Screens equipped with a press washer and a shredder system for screenings.
• Modernization of grit chambers and sand separators - Modernization and renovation of the building. Installation of chain scrapers / renovation of existing scrapers. Equipping grit chambers with new pumps adapted to a greater amount of sand pulp. Repair of covers. Replacement of fittings. Installation of new sand separators.
• Modernization of existing primary settlers with expansion of the primary sludge pumping station - Replacement of scrapers in rectangular settlers. Renovation of walls, reprofiling of the bottom. Modernization of the primary sludge discharge. Expansion of the primary sludge pumping station and installation of a fibrous parts separator.
• Construction of a gravity thickener for primary sludge - Construction of the second gravity thickener for primary sludge, modeled on the existing object.
• Expansion of the biological part of the wastewater treatment plant - Modernization and expansion of existing reactors. Adaptation of reactors from SBR to flow reactors. Separation of defosfation, denitrification and nitrification chambers. Installation of slow- and medium-speed mixers. Installation of aeration grids. Installation of internal recirculation pumps. Execution of AKPiA (automatic measurement and control instrumentation). Introduction of a control system - alternating system. Construction of three secondary settlers equipped with surface and bottom scrapers, including a flotate scraping system and flotate pumps. Excess sludge pumping station consisting of an external recirculation system (3 pumps in operation + 1 standby), and another system for removing excess sludge to excess sludge thickeners (3 pumps + 1 standby). Secondary settlers equipped with double-edged outlet troughs – pilastered trapezoidal overflow.
• Construction of the floating part pumping station - Construction of a flotate tank consisting of a wet and dry chamber. The dry part is equipped with two pumps directing the flotate to the sludge section of the treatment plant.
• Modernization of the blower station along with technological, energy supply and control, and ventilation equipment – Upgrading the blower system with a new high-performance and energy-efficient unit enabling flexible and intermittent operation with biological reactors and cooperating with the existing blower system. Renovation and replacement of compressed air pipelines. Equipped with control dampers and compensating fittings. Installation of air flow and pressure measurements on the main pipelines delivering air to the reactors. Adaptation of the control system depending on the biological process operation mode.
• Modernization of the dewatered fermented sludge building - Modernization of the entire building. Replacement of sludge dewatering devices after WKF with decanter centrifuges. Adaptation of the entire facility equipment to the new devices. Execution of dewatered sludge transport via conveyors directing sludge for further processing (dryer).
• New measuring system for treated wastewater - Equipping the new measuring system for treated wastewater.
• Modernization and expansion of the dewatered sludge dryer - Construction of the dryer.
• Technological networks - Expansion and modernization of technological networks including water supply, technological water, heating, energy, sewage, and other pipelines carrying media such as raw sewage, sand pulp, fat, excess sludge, primary sludge, flotate pipelines, treatment plant control system and all other necessary networks to ensure proper operation of the wastewater treatment plant.
• Hermetization and deodorization - Hermetization and deodorization and directing odors to filters - Facilities for hermetization and deodorization at the treatment plant include the dosing station, the inlet channel, and the dryer.
