Description:
Contracts are awarded for the planning, construction, and operation of a fast charging network for electric trucks at managed motorway service areas along federal highways, requiring timely commissioning, non-discriminatory access, and coordination with affected site operations.

The Federal Motorway Company of Germany awards contracts for the federal government based on the SchnellLG law for the planning, construction, and operation of a fast charging network for electric trucks at managed motorway service areas along the federal highways. The contract award is carried out through a tender with 5 lots and concerns the planning, construction, and operation of a binding number of MCS and CCS charging points at about 230 locations.
For charging points intended for intermediate charging, rated charging power of at least 400 kW for CCS charging points and 1 MW for MCS charging points is planned. The charging power can be ensured through the shared use of power units of several charging points. For MCS charging points, the power available at one charging point must be at least 800 kW considering simultaneous charging processes at charging points assigned to the same power units. The rated charging power of CCS charging points for overnight charging is at least 150 kW. If power units of several CCS charging points are used jointly for overnight charging, a charging power of at least 100 kW per simultaneously used charging point must be permanently available.
The Federal Motorway Company applies for the necessary grid connections from the respective responsible grid operators. The operator assumes the network and connection usage according to the contractual provisions. If the intended grid connection capacity is not fully available, load management and possibly storage solutions can be provided according to the client's specifications.

Lot 1.
The basis of the tendering is the requirements of SchnellLG and the developed tender and contract model. The specific requirements are set out in the tender documents and contracts that the Federal Motorway Company concludes with the successful bidders on behalf of the federal government.
The following points are particularly essential:
- Each of the total 5 lots is assigned about 230 managed service areas with an individual number of MCS and CCS charging points.
- Each selected operator must ensure especially the timely commissioning and user-friendly operation of the MCS and CCS charging facilities with high availability.
- The planning, construction, and operation of the charging infrastructure must be coordinated with the respective affected site or subsidiary operating companies. Impacts on the ongoing service area operations should be avoided or limited to the necessary extent.
- Each selected operator must ensure non-discriminatory access to its charging facilities. This applies to mobility service providers (EMP - E-Mobility Provider) as well as directly to end customers during ad-hoc charging. Additionally, a pass-through model is provided where end customers can always charge with their own electricity contracts.
- Charging points should be able to be connected to reservation systems. To prevent wrong bookings and to secure reserved charging points, technical and structural measures should be provided.
- If sustainable additional demand arises at a location during the contract period, additional charging points can be installed and subsequently integrated into existing operations.
