The Municipality of Kardzhali is a direct beneficiary and is applying with the project proposal, which is being implemented under the grant aid procedure BG16FFPR002-5.009 “Green Measures in Urban Areas“ (4) under priority 5 “Air” of the “Environment” Program 2021 – 2027, with areas of intervention: 080 (Other measures to reduce greenhouse gas emissions in the field of conservation and restoration of natural areas with high potential for carbon sequestration and storage, for example by restoring wetlands and capturing landfill gas); 001 (Financing Form), 033 (Territorial ESF Mechanism), 003 (Gender Equality) and 24 (Economic Activity). Eligible activities under the program include landscaping with newly designed trees, shrubs, and grass vegetation, construction of pedestrian approaches and paths with grassed concrete perforated plates, and construction of an irrigation system for the newly designed vegetation. The main activity in the implementation of the investment intention is greening of the areas – sodding and planting of vegetation. Mobile irrigation systems are also planned for the facilities. The planned activities for the implementation of the project include: preparation of the areas/facilities for greening, tracing of newly designed paths and planting sites for the planned decorative low and high vegetation, installation of concrete perforated plates, garden curbs, and parking posts, introduction of humus soil and mineral fertilizers, excavation works related to the digging of trenches and planting sites, beds for laying coverings and pipes of the irrigation system, planting and sodding.
