In order to future-proof cruise tourism in Copenhagen and to influence it in a more sustainable direction, By & Havn has entered into a contract for the procurement and installation of a shore power system to supply cruise ships that dock in Copenhagen Harbor. The shore power system is designed for connection at 30 kV level and with a power demand of up to 52 MVA. The 30 kV network is operated by Radius/NEXEL, but for powers above 50 MVA, they refer connections to the 132 kV network.
In Outer Nordhavn, 132 kV access will not be established until 2028, which is why Radius/NEXEL has provided a temporary 30 kV connection with a maximum power connection of 20 MVA until then. When the 132 kV network is established by the end of 2028, the connection to shore power must therefore be moved. As the shore power converter station is designed for 30 kV but the supply will be 132 kV, a transformer station (By & Havn owned transformer) must be established to convert the voltage level.
Currently, there is an EU tender for the contract for the supply of the 132/30 kV transformer. Advice related to this tender prior to signing the contract with the transformer supplier is therefore not included in this Advisor Agreement.
In connection with the establishment of the 132 kV supply, the Advisor shall assist By & Havn with the following sub-tasks (hereafter referred to as the “Task”) in accordance with the Advisor Agreement:
• Advisory and project management related to the establishment and handover of the transformer station, including construction management
• Advisory in connection with construction and electrical work related to the establishment of the transformer
• Dialogue with Energinet and modeling in relation to the transformer
For a more detailed description of the tendered task and the Advisor Agreement, please refer to the complete tender material.
