As part of the ResNRJwater project (INTERREG Northwest Europe 2021-2027, https://resnrjwater.nweurope.eu/), a scientific feasibility study will examine the extent to which two municipal wastewater treatment plants can be developed as integrated energy hubs. The goal is to develop a transferable electricity, heat, and contract model that takes into account the respective technical and infrastructural conditions, is economically viable, and meets ecological requirements. The focus is particularly on:
evaluating and optimizing existing and potential energy infrastructure,
analyzing storage and distribution options,
designing resilient operational strategies,
designing process engineering methods in the field of wastewater and sludge treatment, as well as
developing suitable contract models for the involvement of external actors and for ensuring legal compliance in the municipal context.
