Description:
The procurement involves acquiring AI models for automatic analysis and interpretation of medical communication, focusing on speech-to-text solutions and functionalities such as patient transfer support, action suggestions during care, and remote assessments via smart glasses, to be integrated into a web-based application.

The subject of these deliveries: purchase of AI models for automatic analysis and interpretation of medical communication.

This tender was prepared within the MEDIC 5G project of UZ Brussels and specifically relates to use cases 1 & 2 of the project, focusing on the deployment of AI-based speech-to-text solutions and the use of smart glasses in healthcare. This file with reference 20251340 GV aims at acquiring various AI models (including their development) that enable different applications in healthcare based on smart processing of speech-to-text transcriptions. Within these applications, three core functionalities are provided which must be developed and deployed by June 2026 in several departments within the hospital.

The three core functionalities of the AI models are:
1. Speech-to-template module: supports, among other things, the digital transfer process of patients between care departments. By utilizing speech recognition and transcription, relevant information is automatically translated into structured reporting (such as ISBAR), ensuring more complete documentation and less administrative burden.

2. Speech-to-action module: allows for automatic suggestions/execution of (non-medical) actions during observation or transfer moments (upon confirmation) based on recognized instructions. This includes ordering medication, requesting examinations, scheduling consultations, automatically converting certain coding according to Belgian and standard nomenclature (i.e. billing)…

3. Remote assessment module: supports live communication between doctors, nurses, and/or specialists, among others via smart glasses. These conversations can be transcribed and automatically translated into structured reports or summaries, useful for external emergencies or intra-operative consultations.

The three AI models will be integrated into a web-based application compatible with smartphones, tablets, desktops, as well as with smart glasses. However, this (development and) purchase does not fall under this procurement procedure.

For the development of the web-based application and the purchase of the smart glasses, two additional tenders have been prepared with the following references: 20251339 GV (smart glasses) and 20251341 GV (software integration platform). To achieve the complete product, the supplier will need to collaborate with partners across the two other tenders.
