Description:
A study is needed to develop a sustainable water management network and quality in the former open-cast mining areas of Schlabendorf and Seese, addressing nature conservation and legal concerns while connecting residual water bodies to watercourses and assessing their impacts.

A feasible water management study is to be developed, which creates a water network and water quality that takes into account the concerns of nature conservation, mining, and water law while minimizing the eternal burdens of lignite mining. The area of work extends over the former open-cast mining areas of Schlabendorf and Seese. Sustainable solutions for the connection of individual residual water bodies from open-cast mining to the watercourses must be developed, and their impacts on the downstream flow water network up to the Spree must be investigated.
The services include:
- Route finding for the connection of residual water bodies from open-cast mining, taking into account water management, nature conservation, economic, geotechnical, property, and technical aspects
- Water level calculation to determine the performance of the connection system
- Effects on the connected or to be connected recipients regarding water quantities and quality
- Description of the water, mining, and nature conservation legal conditions with regard to the desired approval procedure
- Economic considerations / rough cost estimates (in variants)
- Rough schedule for the implementation of the measures considering interdependencies
- Identification of water engineering facilities to be constructed or modified (e.g., weir, culverts, bridges, etc.) including preliminary sizing and rough cost estimation
