At the bus depot in Mönchengladbach of the public transport company NEW mobil und aktiv Mönchengladbach GmbH, hereinafter referred to as NEW, the existing charging infrastructure is being expanded. The current charging infrastructure (inside Hall 3) consists of four chargers that supply four charging points. Additional charging infrastructure has already been realized outside in the yard. For the new charging infrastructure, a medium voltage ring will be constructed by the contractor starting from the transfer station, which will supply the new energy centers. The energy centers consist of a compact steel structure, which houses the medium voltage switchgear, transformers, and low voltage switchgear. The equipment of the energy center is adapted to the number of charging points, known as High Power Chargers (HPC). These energy centers will be provided by the grid operator as borrowable stations. Around the energy center, the HPCs will be installed. The energy centers as well as the HPCs will be set up on the roof/parking deck of the storage hall. They will stand on a steel substructure, which will subsequently be equipped with grating to be walkable. The double floor created in this way will be used for laying cable systems on trays, as the cable entries of the components are foreseen from below. The supply of the charging cables to the buses will be via a tray system in the storage hall. The entire electrical energy will be provided via the existing medium voltage connection from Stadtwerke Mönchengladbach. In the final expansion, 6 MW of electrical power will be delivered, which will serve to supply the yard. The total installed DC power will be approximately 13.8 MW (without losses).
