The Government of Belize has received financing from the World Bank (WB) for the implementation of the Project - Belize Reliant and Resilient Energy System Project. This Project aims to enhance the country’s electricity infrastructure by integrating 40 MW of battery energy storage to facilitate future renewable energy adoption, improve grid resilience against extreme weather conditions and provide technical assistance for system optimization.



The Ministry of Finance invites qualified individuals to apply for the contractual position of Environmental Specialist within the Central Executing Unit (CEU). The Environmental Specialist will be responsible for promoting the environmental sustainability of the World Bank Projects and other projects within the Central Executing Unit and ensuring no adverse environmental impacts arise from its implementation, ensuring compliance with World Bank fiduciary requirements, including the Environmental and Social Framework (ESF) and GOB financial regulations. This person will also ensure compliance with national environmental regulations, contribute to the betterment of ecosystems and public health, and help preserve the environment by applying their extensive knowledge of natural science to environmental problems that may be faced by the Projects.

The selection for this contractual position will be conducted in accordance with the World Bank’s Procurement Regulations for IPF Borrowers (February 2025) and the Consultant Guidelines (2011), using the Individual Consultant Selection method. The process will also adhere to the procurement policies and the best practices of the Government of Belize. This selection is open to all eligible individuals as defined by the referenced policies.
