The Danish Ministry of Defence Acquisition and Logistics Organisation (DALO) is planning to acquire an area denial weapon system for the engagement of armoured vehicles, including main battle tanks. The system may be implemented as an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV), an unmanned ground vehicle (UGV), a stationary installation, or a combination thereof.
The system shall enable the operator to define a geographically delimited engagement area ("kill zone") and shall be capable of detecting and classifying vehicles entering this area, including automatic recognition of hostile vehicle types.
Upon a recognised hostile vehicle — or, depending on configuration, any vehicle — entering the designated engagement area, the system shall be capable of autonomously engaging and destroying the target without operator intervention. The system shall deliver sufficient terminal effect to defeat modern main battle tanks.
