AI solutions in radiology: Platform for artificial intelligence (AI) solutions in clinical imaging for the detection of fractures, brain hemorrhages and pulmonary embolism.

AI-based decision support systems in clinical imaging have the potential to make a significant contribution to improving healthcare. Vivantes also intends to transform patient care into more patient-centered medicine by using AI solutions in everyday clinical practice. In the past year, the Department of Health Care Development and Quality in the Clinic Management Division was founded in order to drive this process forward as a whole. The long-term goal is to use AI solutions in a larger proportion of imaging examinations. The systematic use of the solutions is to be established and measured permanently in all clinics. They are to be used successively with the appropriate entities. In the future, further use cases of AI-based image analysis in radiology and other specialist areas are also to be implemented, ideally with the help of a platform approach.

The aim of obtaining the solutions described here is, in particular, to evaluate clinical imaging through decision support systems and thus support clinicians.

Within this framework, a platform for AI-based image analysis is to be set up, which, as a first step, supports the diagnosis of fractures, cerebral hemorrhages and pulmonary embolism by way of example. As a result, it is planned to gradually expand the platform with further application scenarios. Ideally, a marketplace approach is used that enables various algorithm creators to provide their solutions via the platform.
