RECONSTRUCTION OF THE WASTEWATER TREATMENT PLANT IN NYSA.
III.1. PURPOSE OF THE PLANNED INVESTMENT
1. The subject investment involves the reconstruction of the existing wastewater treatment plant in Nysa. The plant receives municipal wastewater (mixed domestic, industrial, and rainwater) from the collective sewerage system of the Nysa agglomeration, including the municipalities of Nysa, Otmuchów, and Głuchołazy, as well as industrial and domestic wastewater transported by vacuum tanker. Treated wastewater is discharged into the Nysa Kłodzka River at km 59+810. The site includes the following technological facilities:
• main wastewater pumping station,
• mechanical screen building,
• 3-chamber horizontal grit chamber,
• KPV-X measuring channel with Venturi constriction,
• sand drying beds,
• radial primary sedimentation tanks,
• aeration chambers,
• radial secondary sedimentation tanks,
• recirculation pumping station for wastewater and sludge,
• pumping station for "raw" and excess sludge and "own" sludge,
• thickening of "raw" and excess sludge,
• WKF machinery with boiler room,
• two closed fermentation chambers,
• thickener for digested sludge with pumping station,
• dewatered sludge landfill,
• fuel and slag storage,
• sludge dewatering station,
• gas tank,
• gas flare,
• industrial water hydrophore ("own"),
• main support building,
• pipe culvert – covering Bielawski canal,
• high voltage switchgear with transformer station for mechanical part,
• open earth fermentation chambers,
• blower station,
• WKF – "old wastewater treatment plant",
• discharging area for transported wastewater.
The treatment plant has separate technological lines:
1) Wastewater line consisting of:
a) mechanical treatment section,
b) biological treatment section,
c) chemical treatment stage i.e. installation for reagent dosing for sludge precipitation
2) Sludge treatment line and fat waste composed of:
a) three leachate fields for sand
b) raw sludge pumping station
c) retention tanks/thickeners for mixed sludge with raw sludge second-stage centrifugal pumps,
d) closed sludge fermentation chambers,
e) technical building (machinery) for sludge management with circulation and heating system
f) two open fermentation chambers (earth tanks),
g) centrifuge station for mechanical sludge dewatering,
h) open storage for dewatered sludge
3) Biogas cleaning, storage and utilization line consisting of:
a) biogas collection in WKF chambers
b) two scrubbers for biogas desulfurization on bog ore, gas measurement and compression station
c) biogas tank with capacity of V = 2000m3
d) biogas flare
e) cogeneration/power generator unit
Auxiliary buildings:
• social and technical building,
• high voltage switchgear building with transformer station,
• technological water pumping station,
• discharging area for transported wastewater,
• oil-gas boiler room with power generator.
The investment plans to:
1) Eliminate existing, technically exploited and obsolete facilities, i.e. mechanical wastewater treatment node facilities including main wastewater pumping station, mechanical screen building, three-chamber horizontal grit chamber with sand drying beds and part of the open channel for mechanically treated wastewater, three tanks for raw and excess sludge (these tanks are in poor technical condition), dewatered sludge landfill, WKF (facility decommissioned – remains of the "old wastewater treatment plant")
2) Construct new facilities replacing those removed using modern technical solutions, i.e. mechanical wastewater treatment node (consisting of a building with mechanical wastewater screens, main wastewater pumping station, sand separators – devices replacing sand drying beds and two grit chambers, tank for raw sludge and two tanks for excess sludge, dewatered sludge storage)
3) Renovate and equip in modern technological equipment the facilities intended for further use, i.e. equip sludge and wastewater management facilities with pumps, mixers, sludge dewatering and transport devices, wastewater aeration system, heat exchangers, boilers, control and monitoring system elements, installations for dosing lime, organic nutrient substances, oxygen and other chemical reagents to support biological and chemical wastewater treatment processes, renovation of building facilities including technical-administrative building, transformer station building and other cubature buildings.
4) Build additional facilities improving operating conditions of the entire plant.
The project does not introduce changes in the technological scheme of wastewater treatment and sludge processing nor will it change the designed capacity (size) of the treatment plant; the only change will be the management of stormwater (which will be additionally retained in one of the existing primary sedimentation tanks).
